People Pane is the almost unnoticeable line on the bottom of your email message. Click the expand arrow, or drag the line up, and it reveals a powerful feature of MS Outlook 2010, the Social Connector.
Connect to Social Media
People Pane incorporates Social Connector Add-In which allows you to connect to Facebook, LinkedIn and three other Social Media sites.
I decided to add LinkedIn to my Outlook Social Connector and now I am able to view my connections' updates without leaving the Inbox. As a visual person, I appreciate that Outlook also pulled through profile pictures of my LinkedIn connections.
The Fastest Attachment Finder
People Pane offers much more then just the Social Connector Add-In (which you can decide not to enable). How many times have you wondered if you remembered to attach a file to your email, or where is the spreadsheet your colleague had sent you.
With People Pane you are able to find all those things very quickly without performing any elaborate searches. Just click on any email you have sent or received from the particular person and expand the People Pane.
People Pane will show activities between you and this person. You can view emails you exchanged, meetings you had, and my favourite part, which attachments you sent or received. All items in the People Pane are links. Once you find the attachment you were looking for, click on it, and Outlook will open an email with the file attached.
